Why is my Rolex worth less than I paid?

Retail price and secondary-market value are two completely different things.

Some watches have very high retail prices because of precious metals, factory diamonds or other expensive configurations, but the secondary market may have fewer buyers for them.

This can result in certain watches selling below their original retail price.

Expensive does not automatically mean highly liquid.
